While driving home from Carmel on Hwy 1, I had to stop at one of my favorite places, Point Lobos. I got out of the car with my painting gear, and despite the blustery and cold weather, I painted and created this larger version of the painting.

Lynn Gertenbach (1940-2023)

Lynn Gertenbach is a distinguished artist, known for her exceptional artwork and extensive career in the field. She has been recognized by various prestigious organizations including the California Art Club, Oil Painters of America, Plein-Air Painters of America, American Academy of Women Artists, and Knickerbocker Artist of America, as a signature member.

Gertenbach’s artistic journey began at The Art Institute of Colorado, where she was a scholarship student. She further honed her skills at the Layton School of Art and Design, in Pasadena, The Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, and at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has also trained under renowned artists such as Sergei Bongart, Philip Gilkerson, Bernard Dunstan, and Arul Raj in India.

Throughout her career spanning over four decades, Gertenbach has exhibited her artwork in Europe, South America, and Japan, where she traveled for 11 years to appear at her biannual shows. Her remarkable talent has earned her numerous Gold Medal awards, and in recognition of her achievements, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Art Institute of Colorado. Her artwork has also been showcased in group shows at prestigious venues such as the Laguna Art Museum, in Laguna Beach, California, the Pacific Asia Museum, in Pasadena, California, and the Isetan Museum of Art, in Tokyo.

In 2002, Gertenbach was awarded the First prize in the landscape category in the Autumn Salon, held at the Edenhurst Gallery, in Beverly Hills, California. Her exceptional artwork and extensive experience have established her as a prominent figure in the world of art.
